Rehabilitation Training in Angel, Islington
One to one strength training for when an injury, an operation or pain that keeps coming back is stopping your progress. You train with the same coach from your first assessment to your last session, in a private studio built for loading.
You've done the hard part. Now you need to trust your body again.
Your physio has discharged
you, but your knee still
doesn't feel like something
you can load.
You've been cleared after surgery or a joint replacement, and you want to rebuild
properly rather than guess.
Every time you build
momentum, the same back, shoulder or tendon flares
up and you start again.
You're hypermobile, and stretching has never given you strength you can rely on.
If that sounds like you, Rehabilitation Training is built for exactly this stage.
Training, not treatment
✓ What it is
Coached strength training in a fully equipped private studio, built around your injury history and any plan from your physio or surgeon. We load what your body is ready for, hold back what it isn't, and build from there.
✕What it isn't
Coached strength training in a fully equipped private studio, built around your injury history and any plan from your physio or surgeon. We load what your body is ready for, hold back what it isn't, and build from there.
How it works
Your Introductory Rehab Assessment
We talk through your injury and training history, look at how you move and agree what you want to get back to.
Your written plan
You leave with a clear plan you keep: what we're working towards, and how we'll measure it.
Your coached sessions
One to one, 60 minutes each. We track the measures we took at the start, so you can see your progress for yourself.
Who we train
We train people coming back from knee pain and knee surgery, ACL reconstruction or a non surgical ACL plan, Achilles and patellar tendon pain, tennis and golfer's elbow, rotator cuff problems, frozen shoulder and shoulder dislocation, and recurring back pain and sciatica once you're cleared to train.
We also train people before and after surgery, after hip and knee replacements, people with hypermobility, and runners who keep breaking down at the same point in every training block.
Not on the list? Ask us. Your assessment tells us whether we're the right next step.

"After years of generic gym programmes that ignored my dodgy knee, finding A Fitness in Islington was a game-changer. My personal trainer built everything around my injury history from day one, no second guessing, just intelligent, progressive training. Six months in and I'm stronger than I've ever been."
"Alexander was amazing. He showed me how to do a lot of exercise for my shoulder dislocated and for my knee injured. Really professional and highly recommended."
"I have really enjoyed training with Alexander. He is a very experienced and passionate coach, and I look forward to continuing to work with him in the months ahead."
Your coach, every session
Alexander Khang
ISRM Level 5 Soft Tissue Therapy · 6+ years in MSK rehabilitation · 5+ years coaching strength
Alexander coaches every session himself. He spent years treating injuries before he coached around them, so he understands what an injured body can take and how to build its capacity, week by week.
He isn't a physiotherapist, and he won't pretend to be one. He's the coach you see once you're ready to load.
When to see a clinician first
If your pain is new, getting worse or hasn't been explained, or you've had surgery and haven't yet been cleared to train, see your GP, physio or surgeon first.
And if your assessment shows you need clinical care, we'll tell you straight away and point you to the right professional.
Referred from a clinic?
Bring your plan. If your physio or surgeon has given you exercises, restrictions or milestones, we work within them, and with your permission we keep them updated on your progress.

Rehab training questions
How much does a rehab personal trainer cost?
Your Introductory Rehab Assessment is £120 for 60 minutes, and every Rehabilitation Training session after it is £120. There's no joining fee and no membership.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on you: your injury, your goal and how your body responds. After your assessment, your written plan gives you an honest estimate.
Is this physiotherapy?
No. We don't diagnose or treat. We coach strength training once you're ready to train, and we're happy to work alongside your physio.
Should I see a physio or a personal trainer first?
If your injury is new or hasn't been assessed, see a physio or your GP first. Once you've been cleared to train, rehab personal training builds the strength to get you back to what you do.
Do I need a referral?
No. A plan from your physio or surgeon helps, but you can book your assessment directly.
Can I claim on my insurance?
We don't bill insurers directly. You receive a full receipt for every session, which you can use to claim if your policy covers rehab training. Check with your insurer before you book.
What's the difference between Rehabilitation Training and 1:1 Personal Training?
Rehabilitation Training (£120) is for anyone training with a current injury or pain, and works from your assessment and any plan from your clinician. 1:1 Personal Training (£105) is for people training without a current injury.
What if I need to cancel?
Give us at least 24 hours' notice and we'll move your session. With less notice, the session is forfeited.
