Frequently asked questions
Personal training and rehabilitation
What can I expect in my first session?
Your first session begins with a short movement assessment to understand your mobility, posture, biomechanics, and any existing limitations. We then move into personalised strength and mobility work based on your goals. You’ll leave with a clear understanding of your current baseline and the next steps in your training and rehabilitation plan.
How is A Fitness different from traditional personal training?
We combine rehabilitation, strength training, mobility work, and soft tissue therapy into one seamless method. Instead of generic workouts, you receive a clinical-informed, assessment-led programme tailored to your body and lifestyle. This approach is designed specifically for busy professionals who value precision, structure, and high-quality coaching.
Is this suitable if I have an injury or past pain?
Yes — We specialise in supporting clients with previous injuries, long-standing tightness, joint discomfort, or recurring issues. Programmes incorporate corrective exercises, mobility drills, and soft tissue techniques to help you train safely while rebuilding resilience.
How often should I train?
Most clients train 1–2 times per week depending on goals, schedule, and recovery needs. You’ll receive a recommendation during your assessment, along with guidance on what to do between sessions to maintain progress.
Do you offer nutritional guidance?
Yes. While the primary focus is strength, rehabilitation, and movement, we provide nutritional strategies that support recovery, performance, and body composition goals. Plans are simple, sustainable, and tailored to your lifestyle.
Can I train if I’m completely new to strength or rehab work?
Absolutely. Our method is designed to meet you exactly where you are — whether you’re experienced, returning after a break, or starting fresh. Every exercise is coached with precision, ensuring safety and confidence from day one.
Where are sessions held?
Personal Training sessions are held in an exclusive, appointment-only studio in Angel Islington, Essex Road, offering a calm and focused environment with no crowds and no distractions. This space is designed to support both training and rehabilitation work.
Do you offer online sessions?
Yes. Clients with busy or unpredictable schedules can train through our Online Coaching programme, supported by personalised plans, technique feedback, and accountability through an AI Coaching Software. Hybrid setups are also available.
How does payment work?
Training can be booked as single sessions, monthly plans, or transformation programmes depending on your preference. Payments are handled securely through your chosen booking method.
What results can I expect?
Clients typically see improvements in:
Strength and muscle tone
Mobility and joint function
Posture and movement efficiency
Pain reduction and injury resilience
Overall confidence and wellbeing
Progress is measurable, consistent, and aligned with your personal goals.
What should I bring to each session?
Just comfortable training clothing and water. All equipment, assessment tools, and therapy materials are provided in the studio.
Can I combine training with soft tissue therapy?
Yes - this is a core part of the A Fitness ethos. Many clients integrate both services to improve recovery, reduce pain, and accelerate performance. Your programme can be structured to include both within a single session or across separate appointments.
Soft Tissue Therapy
What is Soft Tissue Therapy?
Soft Tissue Therapy is a clinical approach to assess, treat, and manage musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. It combines deep tissue techniques, myofascial release, and assisted stretching to restore movement, relieve pain, and prevent injury.
What’s the difference between Soft Tissue Therapy and a regular massage?
Unlike relaxation or spa massages, Soft Tissue Therapy focuses on clinical outcomes- pain relief, postural correction, and improved mobility using assessment-led treatment and evidence-based techniques.
Who is Soft Tissue Therapy suitable for?
Ideal for anyone with muscle tightness, sports injuries, postural strain, or recovery needs. It’s not just for athletes, it’s for anyone who wants to move and feel better.
How long should my first session be?
For your first visit, we recommend a 60- or 90-minute session, which includes consultation, assessment, and hands-on treatment.
What do I need to wear?
Please wear or bring comfortable, flexible clothing (e.g. shorts and a sports top). You may need to expose the treatment area.
How often should I come?
This depends on your condition. Acute pain may require weekly sessions initially, while maintenance or performance clients typically attend every 2–3 weeks.
Can I claim this on my private health insurance?
Soft Tissue Therapy is not typically covered by insurance in the UK, but some providers may reimburse sessions under Sports or Remedial Massage categories. Please check with your insurer.
What is your cancellation policy?
All bookings are paid upfront and are non-refundable. Reschedules are accepted with at least 24 hours’ notice.
